KABUL – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Haneef Atmar met with the Kabul-based EU Heads of Missions and Head of the EU Delegation to Afghanistan, Ambassador Pierre Mayaudon. During the meeting, Minister Atmar centralized the Afghan peace process, shed light over Geneva Ministerial Pledging Conference which is due to be held in November and recent political developments. Minister Atmar commended the landmark statement released by the EU Council of Ministers which reaffirms the EU’s political commitment to support the people of Afghanistan on their path towards peace, security, stability, democracy, prosperity and self-reliance. Referring to the statement, Minister Atmar also discussed the start of intra-Afghan negotiation and strengthening the Islamic Republic as key elements to achieve sustainable peace in Afghanistan.

KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation Mirwais Nab met with the German Member of Parliament Mr. Omid Nouripour. Having welcomed Mr. Nouripour to Kabul, the Deputy Minister Nab discussed the outcomes of his recent trip to Germany and thanked the people and government of Germany for their assistance to Afghanistan in various areas. He also expressed his gratitude for Mr. Nouripour’s efforts in this regard. Both sides further discussed strengthening of relations between the two countries, preparations for the upcoming Munich Security Conference, the presidential elections, peace talks and regional issues. Lastly, Mr. Nouripour reaffirmed his commitment to the expansion of relations between the two countries and continuous German cooperation with Afghanistan.

BERLIN – Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation Mr. Mirwais Nab travelled to Berlin-Germany to attend “Green Central Asia Conference”. He met with the Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Mr. Neils Annes on Tuesday, January 28th.

In this meeting, both sides discussed the two countries’ economic ties and its significance. Appreciating Germany’s efforts in hosting the said event, Mr. Nab expressed his gratitude for Germany’s support to Afghanistan in various areas including its role in the Resolute Support Mission as well as its efforts in facilitating the Intra-Afghan Dialogue.

Mr. Nab held that in addition to the aforementioned areas, Germany could also play a significant and effective role in expanding regional cooperation.

On the side-lines of the conference, Mr. Nab also held separate meetings with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Abdulaziz Kamilov, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin as well as Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Mr. Raşit Meredow.

In his meeting with the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Mr. Nab discussed widening of economic ties as well as the RECCA process. They discussed preparations for holding the next RECCA conference and Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to cooperate in holding the event.

Furthermore, in his meeting with Tajikistani Foreign Minister, the two sides discussed the significance of bilateral ties, energy, transit as well as Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process and stressed strengthening and expanding bilateral relations between the two countries.

During his meeting with the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, Mr. Nab discussed and exchanged views on the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries and the former’s visit to Afghanistan as well as implementation of agreements signed between the two countries.

At the end of the Green Central Asia Conference Berlin 2020, a joint declaration was issued by Afghanistan, Central Asian states and Germany.

KABUL – Deputy and Acting Foreign Minister Mohmammad Haroon Chakhansuri met with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kabul Mr. Peter Prugel this morning.

The two sides exchanged opinions on the upcoming Munich Security Conference and participation of the Afghan delegation in it. They further discussed the recent developments regarding peace and the MoFA’s role considering the latest developments.

KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman met with the Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kabul, Mr. Christoph Peleikis.

At the outset, the two sides discussed recent developments related to the presidential elections process and the peace process.

Mr. Peleikis briefed Deputy Minister Zaman on his engagements with the Afghan authorities to discuss ways the German government can contribute to the processes.

Mr. Peleikis informed the Deputy Foreign Minister of a new extensive program designed for diplomats stationed in Berlin.    

KABUL – A consultative meeting for the Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process was held in Mohammad Wali Khan Darwazi Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, today.

The meeting was attended by the ambassadors and representatives of participating and supporting countries of the Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process, as well as the representatives of regional and international organizations, to review the joint declaration of the 8th Ministerial Conference of Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process, due to be held on December 9, 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey.

KABUL – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Idrees Zaman met with the Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation to Kabul Mr. Pierre Mayaudon, this morning.

The meeting focused on presidential elections and recent developments including the intra-Afghan peace talks.

The two sides also discussed reports about the alleged abuse of school children in Logar province.

Foreign Minister appreciated EU’s continued support and commitment towards a stable and peaceful Afghanistan.

BRATISLAVA - Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Idrees Zaman presented his statement in the 26th Meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers this morning. His statement focussed on peace and security in Afghanistan. Regarding Peace he discussed the seven point peace plan of the Afghan government. On Security he discussed the achievements of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSDF). Where he highlighted the successful operation of the ANSDF which resulted in clearance of the ISIS operators in the eastern province Nangarhar.

He thanked Italy for chairing the Asian Contact Group and Slovak for its successful organization of the conference.

BRATISLAVA – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Idrees Zaman met with the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Mircea Geoană.

The two sides exchanged notes on peace process and Afghanistan presidential elections.

Foreign Minister Zaman briefed him about developments in peace process including release of three Taliban prisoners and its impact on peace process and overall security situation in Afghanistan. He also talked about the President Ashraf Ghani’s telephone conversation with President Donald Trump and his recent trip to Afghanistan.

Deputy Secretary General NATO reaffirmed that all countries in NATO declared their strong commitment and support to Afghanistan in London. He also appreciated the achievemen

BRATISLAVA – Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Idrees Zaman met with the European Union High Representative/Vice President, Mr. Josep Borrell Fontelles.

The meeting focused on the peace process and the security situation in Afghanistan.

At the outset, Foreign Minister congratulated him on his appointment as High representative of EU Vice President and wished him success.

The two sides exchanged views on the recent developments in the peace process and importance of regional connectivity for Afghanistan.

Foreign Minister Zaman also briefed him about the Afghan government’s seven-point peace plan and the EU declaration regarding the deportation of Afghan asylum seekers.
